Ring of the Friulian Dolomites: 5 days - 4 nights

The Friulian Dolomites are one of the most authentic and unspoilt treasures of the Italian Alps. Situated in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia, they represent an unmissable destination for those who love true mountains, those that have not bowed to the logic of mass tourism. This is precisely their strength: a wild, yet accessible landscape, where time seems to stand still. Visiting the Friulian Dolomites means immersing yourself in an extraordinary natural environment. The jagged peaks, deep valleys and rock faces create spectacular scenery, perfect for hiking, trekking and climbing. The Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protects a vast area of biodiversity, where it is possible to spot ibex, chamois, golden eagles and rare alpine flora. But it is not only nature that makes this area unique. The small mountain villages, such as Forni di Sopra or Cimolais, offer a warm and genuine welcome. Here you can discover local traditions, typical handicrafts and a simple but delicious mountain cuisine, made of real flavours and local ingredients.. The Friulian Dolomites are visited not only with the eyes, but with the soul. And they leave a mark. You will get to know them together with one of our mid-mountain guides and other adventure enthusiasts like you.

PROGRAMME:

DAY 1 - TOWARDS NEW VISTAS

The meeting point is in the early afternoon at Ponte Compol, above Cimolais. Here we will leave our cars and begin our adventure on foot in Val Cimoliana, surrounded by forests, rock faces and clear skies, until we reach the Pordenone Refuge. Time to settle in, relax and start savouring the magic of the mountains. Dinner and overnight stay at Rifugio Pordenone.

Height difference +650 m 3 hours | 10 km

DAY 2 -

After breakfast, we will collect our packed lunches and begin the ascent along paths that will take us higher and higher, leaving the valley behind and immersing ourselves in a landscape suspended between earth and sky, beneath the severe walls of Monte Pramaggiore.

We will cross no less than four forks, each with spectacular views that will repay every step. At altitude, time dilates and the noises of the world fade away: only wind, breath and wonder remain. After the descent down Val Suola, we will be welcomed by the Flaiban-Pacherini Refuge, a simple and authentic place, where we will spend an evening in peaceful company. Stop for a packed lunch along the way, dinner and overnight stay at the Flaiban - Pacherini Refuge.

DAY 3 - GENTIANS AND ENDLESS PANORAMAS

After breakfast and the collection of packed lunches, our day of excitement will begin. Not a single ascent, not a single descent: but many ups and downs that will lead us continuously from one valley to the next. After the first steep ascent to the Forcella dell'Inferno, we will find ourselves in an environment of absolute peace, amidst rocks shaped by time and light that changes with every step.

From here we will start walking along a special path: the Troi dai Sclops, the path of the gentians, which will lead us through changing and spectacular environments, in a perfect balance between the delicacy of flowers and the power of stone. Amidst suddenly opening panoramas and postcard views, we will reach the Giaf Refuge, where we can enjoy an evening in the company of friends. Stop for lunch along the way, dinner and overnight stay at the Giaf Refuge.

Height difference +1000 m | -1000 m | 6-7 hours | 10 km

DAY 4 - BETWEEN MAJESTIC WALLS AND DEEP SILENCES

After breakfast and collecting our packed lunches, we will ascend towards the wild heart of the Monfalcon. Our walk will take us through two spectacular forks: the Monfalcon di Forni and the Las Busas, between vertiginous walls, impalpable scree and absolute silence.

At the centre of this amphitheatre of stone, we will find the Marchi-Granzotto Bivouac, a small red structure that seems suspended in time, guardian of dreams and storms. The descent will not be trivial, steep and technical, but it will take us towards the tranquillity of the Rifugio Padova. Stop for lunch along the way, dinner and overnight stay at Rifugio Padova.

Height difference +1000 m | -1100 m | 6-7 hours | 7 km

DAY 5 - THE RETURN

After breakfast and collecting our packed lunches, we will prepare for the last stage: a long climb will take us to the Forcella Montanaia saddle, from where he will finally appear, the Campanile di Val Montanaia, an icon of the Friulian Dolomites, nicknamed the stone cry for its soaring, elegant shape that seems to challenge the sky.

At its foot is the tiny Perugini Bivouac, like a red flower sprouting at the foot of a tower. From here, the long descent will take us slowly towards Rifugio Pordenone, where our staff will take you back to your cars. Stop for a packed lunch along the way.
