Cimolais
13858
Live a unique experience in the Dolomites with our Ring of the Friulian Dolomites: 5 guided days amidst spectacular peaks and unspoilt nature. You will walk in a wild ring that embraces the most remote Pale Mountains, exploring silent valleys, crystal clear streams and fragrant larch forests. Each stage reveals cosy shelters, 360° panoramas and authentic km 0 flavours, while the local guide shares stories, geology and secrets of this unforgettable adventure. The pace is designed for trained hikers who want to discover untouched landscapes far from mass tourism.

Dates:

  • 7 - 11 August

Where:

Forni di Sopra, UD

What is to be done?

  • Guided trekking
We will hike for five days along wild trails connecting the hanging valleys of the Pramaggiore, Monfalconi, Spalti di Toro and Cridola groups. With an experienced guide, we will cross airy forks, silent screes and mugo flows, admiring dolomite walls tinged pink at dawn. We will meet a few other wayfarers, enjoying regenerating solitude, and let each step tell the story of these rugged, untouched mountains. Between sweat, laughter and dizzying views, we will forge genuine bonds with the group and with nature.
  • 4 nights in a mountain hut with half board
Every evening we will find refuge in the simple warmth of Giaf, Padova, Pordenone and Pacherini. We will be welcomed by wooden halls soaked in stove smoke, steaming polenta and sincere smiles. We will toast with Friulian wine, listen to the crackling of the fireplace and gaze at the starry sky from the balcony, while the scent of the forest will enter through half-closed windows. We will sleep in bunk beds, waking up to the song of titmice and a hearty breakfast that will give our legs energy for the next stage.
  • Masterclass Discovering Nature
During the stops, an experienced guide will introduce us to and teach us to recognise edelweiss blooming among the rocks, lichens colouring the dolomite, chamois footprints on the gravel tongues and the grazing flight of the golden eagle. We will learn how to read the weather, calibrate our rucksacks, find water and leave a minimal impact on the environment. Through sensory exercises, we will listen to the wind in the larches and the gurgling of the streams, nurturing a deep awareness that will make every future adventure safer and more respectful.

PROGRAMME:

DAY 1

+ 400m | - 0m | 1h30 | 2 km

We will meet in the car park at the foot of the Friulian Dolomites, pack our rucksacks together and outline the final details of the trek. Then we will take the path that, amidst fir woods and rocky glimpses, will lead us to the Giaf Refuge. At sunset, we will gather around the bonfire with Alessandro and Marco, the refuges: we will toast, tell mountain stories and let ourselves be pampered by the scent of the burning larches.

DAY 2

+ 600m | - 700m | 4h30 | 6 km

We will kick off our great adventure with a stage with a relaxed pace, perfect for warming up our muscles and getting to know each other step by step. We will calmly ascend along a gently sloping path, leaving the everyday world behind us.

We will reach the scenic Forcella Scodavacca pass, where we will take a moment to breathe deeply and look into the distance. From there we will begin our descent, immersed in a dense, silent forest, which will accompany us to the Rifugio Padova, our first arrival point, where a warm dinner, new friendships and the excitement of the start will await us.

DAY 3

+ 1000m | - 1100m | 6-7h | 7 km

We will ascend at a steady pace to Forcella Montanaia, where the famous Campanile di Val Montanaia - the 'cry of stone' of the Friulian Dolomites - will welcome us in all its splendour. From above we will see the small Perugini Bivouac, red as a flower at the foot of the tower. After a few photos and a sigh of wonder, we will descend towards Rifugio Pordenone, ready to share in the excitement of this Alpine icon.

DAY 4

+ 1100m | - 800m | 6-7h | 11 km

We set off again among glades and mugo thickets towards the screes at the foot of Monte Pramaggiore. We will cross four close forks, a succession of ups and downs that will give us grandiose views of spires and alpine meadows. Reaching the Suola Pass, we will descend into the valley of the same name to the Flaiban-Pacherini Refuge. This will be our last night together: we will celebrate the friendship and strength of the group with a dinner of Friulian flavours and a toast under the stars.

DAY 5

+ 1000m | - 1000m | 6-7h | 10 km

We immediately tackle the steep ascent to the Forcella dell'Inferno (Hell's Fork): despite its name, we will discover an enchanted place. From here we will take the legendary Troi da Sclops, the path of the gentians, which meanders between majestic walls, rocky balconies and flower-filled valleys. After the last pass, we will return to the Giaf Hut. We will celebrate the end of our adventure with a choral toast, taking the heartbeat of the Friulian Dolomites home with us.
